Condition

Executed on joined paper, not laid down. The joined sheets are affixed to a card mount along the uppermost and bottommost edges on verso. Some slight waviness to each sheet, most visible along the join. There is some light discoloration to the sheet. Though the pigments remain bright and fresh. A few faint scattered spots of foxing. A very faint may stain along the extreme perimeter with a few tiny nicks to the lower edge. This work is in very good condition.

Catalogue Note

Commissioned for the Exposition Universelle of 1937 by the Paris Electric Company for their Pavilion of Light and Electricity, Raoul Dufy's immense masterpiece La Fée électricité—for which the present work is a studywas painted in only ten months. Since 1964, it has been displayed at the Musée d'art moderne de la Ville de Paris.
