Condition
The canvas is not lined. Minor buckling to the canvas is apparent atoward upper center. There are a couple small holes to the canvas visible only on the reverse. The colors are fresh and the surface is nicely textured with two nailhead-sized losses visible, one to the brown of the figure's hair at bottom right and the other to the same brown at top left, the rich blue color of the ground of the canvas is visible beneath. Some pooling varnish is visible along the upper edge. Under UV light: certain pigments fluoresce and there is some possible inpainting under the figure's right eye and in the left of her hair. The reverse is painted with a female portrait by another hand. The work is in good condition.
