Condition
This work is in overall good condition. Canvas is not lined and appears to have been re-stretched onto a new stretcher. Surface is clean and unvarnished and the pigments are fresh and vibrant. Some minor old frame abrasion visible along extreme perimeter. Although there are a few un-retouched losses in the lower right corner and a few around the head and torso of the child, the condition is much better than most works of this kind, where the paint layer can be very unstable. Under UV light: there is no apparent in-painting.
