Condition

Executed on paper laid down on canvas. There are minor tears to the edge of the sheet where it is folded over the stretcher, notably in the corners, which possibly date to the artist's lifetime. A close inspection reveals a small nick to the surface which exposes the grain of the canvas in the blue pigment towards the center of the right half of the composition. There is evidence of some bubbling in the pale pink pigment of the lower left flower and in the green pigment surrounding the flowers in the upper center. Examination under UV light reveals a few tiny spots of fluorescence in the red pigment of the flower in the upper center. This work is in generally very good condition.
