Condition
The canvas is not lined. There are some thin lines of stable craquelure throughout the sky. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals a few pin dot retouches, mostly visible in the right half of the sky and the small area just to the left of the red window. Otherwise, this work is in good condition.

Catalogue Note
Sylvaine Gay was a close friend of Foujita’s. Born Eugenie Augustine Perrodin she grew into a great beauty and became a well-known dancer, assuming the stage name Sylvaine Gay. Sylvaine was one of the main models of the artist, who was extremely fond of her and included her in his inner circle of friends.
