Condition

The canvas is not lined and there do not appear to be any signs of retouching visible under UV light. UV examination reveals areas of fluorescence which are attributable to the pigments used and the uneven application of varnish. There are two thin broken lines of paint loss towards the upper left corner, the longest of which is approximately 9cm. There are a few further flecks of paint loss in places. There is a faint vertical stretcher bar mark, only visible in a raked light, a small indentation to the lower right quadrant and a faint vertical watermark from the centre of the upper edge. This work is in overall fairly good condition.
