Catalogue Note
Ref. 3445, frequently referred to as the 'Mono-date', was the first calendar wristwatch in production by Patek Philippe between 1961 and 1981. The watch being offered is in essentially superb condition, retaining a crisp, flat bezel with non-polished edges and is accentuated by well-defined faceted lugs, which are a key characteristic of this reference. Unlike its counterparts with acrylic crystal top, this present example bearing the reference number of 3445/100 is in the third series of production in the late 1970s, equipped with a domed sapphire crystal top and a higher bezel. Further adorned with an elegant silky blue dial and Iraq national emblem, this watch is without exaggeration one of the rarest and most desirable timepieces for discerned connoisseurs and collectors alike. According to our research, only an exceedingly small series of examples with such dial setting have appeared in auction.
