Catalogue Note

With a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives and a fitted box.

As a pioneer of horological innovation, Patek Philippe introduced its patented light-powered Dome table clock in the 1960s which derives its motive power from a source of light by the means of at least one photoelectric cell.  These quartz movements comply with the same high quality standards that apply to the brand’s famous mechanical movements. The present example of the "Dome" clock is part of the first and now highly collectable series fitted with a 17'''250 mechanical movement, electrically wound and powered through the solar cells.

The art of cloisonné enameling is reserved for only the most skilled and patient of artisans. The curved panels and dome of a Patek Philippe solar clock present an extraordinary challenge, such that one clock can take weeks to complete.  Each piece is a unique work of art, created with the motif at the client's request.
The remarkable cloisonné enamel on this clock is signed by the enameller Derrcle whose fame is associated with Patek Philippe most celebrated enameller such as Suzanne Rohr. The clock is depicting a Titian-haired goddess holding the sun and moon comes to represent time and the passing of day and night, with the owl representing the nocturnal hours and the rooster representing the diurnal hours. Each piece is one of a kind, this extraordinary timepiece is set to enchant connoisseurs of enamel art.
