Since 2001, Harry Winston has been cooperating with genius independent watchmakers and creating wonders with the Opus series. With the launch of Opus X in the tenth year, time is revealed in an even more extraordinary way. This time, the brand collaborated with Jean-Francois Mojon who specializes in the development of high complication movements to bring forward a revolutionary timepiece.

Replacing the conventional fixed dial and watch hands, this model displays time with a system of rotating indicators mounted on a revolving platform. Three modules are set on individual yet interacting satellite wheels to represent hours, minutes, seconds and secondary time zone, orbiting around the central solar wheel. Regardless of the platform’s position, the modules maintain the same synchronized circulation at all time. As the platform completes a full rotation, the dials of each indicator turn in the opposite direction, presenting a new technical challenge which Jean and the engineers of Harry Winston brilliantly overcame. The design simulates the celestial mechanics of solar system and is inspired by planetary movements and the space-time continuum, encapsulating the dimensionality of time and the immensity of the universe into one single watch.

Manifesting the brand’s ingenious craftsmanship, the case adopts a bezel-free design, thus adding more light and transparency to the watch. Further equipped with a linear 72-hour power reserve and second time zone indication, Opus X as a perfect combination of functionality and design, can doubtlessly be regarded as a splendid demonstration of technical marvel of Harry Winston.
