• cal. 17''' manual winding jewelled nickel lever movement, cut bi-metallic balance • two-toned silvered dial, Breguet numerals and hands, subsidiary dial for constant seconds, outer minute track • 18k yellow gold and silvered polished case, engraved monogram to the King Fuad on the snap-on back • case, dial and movement signed and numbered 

Condition

Movement is in working order while cataloguing, but it has not been tested for the accuracy of time keeping and a service might be required at the buyer's expense. Dial with light scuffs. Case with normal signs of ageing. Overall very collectible and rare, unusual to find complete with the box.

Catalogue Note

Fuad I, King of Egypt and Sudan, was the ninth sovereign of the Muhammad Ali dynasty and reigned from 1917 to 1936. Fuad I is remembered as a well appreciated sovereign, especially for his role in education as he initiated the establishment and was the first rector of Cairo University, even before ascending the throne. The present watch is part of a limited edition of 50 pieces ordered by His Majesty to be offered as thank-you presents to his entourage.
