• gilt lever movement, bi-metallic compensation balance, slide repeat, repeating on steel gongs • signed cuvette • white enamel dial, Roman numerals, outer Arabic division for chronograph, subsidiary seconds • 18k yellow gold case, cover with polychrome enamel portrait on a translucent blue enamel background over engine-turning, case back with polychrome enamel scene of a peacock perched on a rose bush, both bezels set with pearls • dial and cuvette signed

Condition

Please note that the movement has not been checked for timekeeping accuracy and Sotheby's will not be held responsible for any repairs should they be require. The movement is not running, balance rotates freely however the barrel spring is broken and the hand setting mechanism is not working. The repeating mechanism is striking. Enamel dial in good condition. There is a pearl missing to the bezel and some small scratches to the enamel.

Louis Rosselet, a Genevoise enameller working from the mid 19th to the early 20th century, was known for his whimsical scenes depicting peacocks and fanciful Far Eastern scenes.
