Catalogue Note

With its distinctive angular lugs so called “Spider Lugs” and square buttons, the reference 1579 is among Patek Philippe's most iconic chronograph wristwatches. The first known example of this model dates to 1943, examples from this first generation, such as the present watch, differ from the later examples in that the enamel baton indexes were replaced around 1950 by applied square indexes.
With its rarer pink gold case, the present lot features an untouched dial with hand and enamelled engraved graduation. It also features the collector’s favourite 'double railway' tracking to the dial known to be the most aesthetic version.
According to our research this watch has never been presented at public auction before.
