Catalogue Note

Introduced in 1970, the reference 5100, was so popular that the first series was completely sold out.  Its design was completely revolutionary with its angular shape Oyster case. It was also the first Rolex to have a sapphire crystal and the quick date change mechanism. Designed to be made in very limited series, each Rolex Quartz is engraved with the limited edition number, the present one is No. 590 and was sold by the Rolex agent, Artland Watch Co. Ltd, Hong Kong, 19 May 1976.
