Catalogue Note
Although Congregation Bikur Cholim of Old Forge (Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania) was founded in 1903, it was not until 1912 that the members set down in writing this governing document for the rapidly growing congregation. The text, completely in Yiddish, outlines the organizational structure as well as the obligations of each of the religious functionaries of the synagogue. By 1919, the American Jewish Year Book would note that Congregation Bikur Cholim boasted a membership of 500.
