Condition
The below condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
This work on panel is in very good condition. The panel is undisturbed on the reverse and flat on the surface. The paint layer is stable and seems to be clean. There may be a vertical scratch that has received retouches in the paneled wall behind and above the figures. There may also be a few tiny dots of retouch in the right thigh of the figure with the hat. There are a few spots in the back of the chair of the figure seated on the right. This is a very well preserved picture that can be hung in its current state.
