The Jewish Rhubarb seller was well known in the streets of London in the 19th Century, as is documented in 5 different prints of this subject. The sellers of rhubarb, which was known as a medicinal herb, were invariably Jews of Turkish origin, as depicted in the turbaned figure in this work.
