Catalogue Note
The Yokohama Nursery Company was founded in 1893 out of the Yokohama Gardener’s Association, which was started by four Japanese gardeners in order to encourage the sale of Japanese plants to the West. To achieve their goal, they sent catalogues to Europe and the United States each year featuring woodblock prints and photographs of their botanical offerings.
