Catalogue Note

This table is illustrated in the drawing room at Stoneleigh Abbey in front of the large Chimneypiece, circa 1920.  Conceived in the Louis XVI revival style with neoclassical ormolu mounts and lyre form, it incorporates English porcelain plaques, possibly from the Coalport Factory, painted in the Louis XV style.  This very English intermingling of 'Louis' styles started in the 1820s and became popular by the end of the decade and into the 1830s.
