Condition
Overall in very good original condition. The red lacquered frame of this panel presents with a vivid and deeply saturated color that is more bold when viewed in person than in the catalogue illustration. This color is the same that Evans had used to the interior of the many of his cabinets designs. The metal elements of this work present with a vivid gilt application that is beautifully contrasted with the rich brown and green patina of the decorative scheme. The recessed contours of the design with minor surface dirt. The metal components with a few very minor surface abrasions and light surface scratches consistent with gentle use. The top of the panel with two original eye hooks for hanging the panel which were not illustrated in the catalogue. A wonderful work showing the vivid coloration and intricate metalwork that characterizes the innovative work of Paul Evans.
