Condition

Overall in very good condition. The lacquered wood elements with wonderful detailing to the surface as seen in the catalogue illustration. This portion of the design with a few very minor surface scratches, which are not visible unless inspected closely. A few very minor discolorations consistent with age and use. The metal portions of the design with minor surface dirt, minor discolorations and a few surface scratches consistent with age and gentle use. The shades and finials are later and remain in very good condition. A very modern and highly sculptural design by the artist.

Catalogue Note

IN CONTEXT
Mr. Mont is the only American designer represented in the collection – and a provocative one at that. The lamps, purchased for the guest bedroom, exhibit a dynamic combination of materials. The lacquered egg-shaped central wood element and the metal framework make for a bold statement. Even though Mont was a renegade, his being part of this Australian home seemed very suitable to me.
