Description

- silvered bronze and alabaster
Condition
Overall very good original condition. The chandelier presents with minor rubbing to the silvering consistent with use and gentle handling. Each of the three bird beaks are presently slightly bent, and could be easily straightened by a professional metal restorer. The three smaller shades, possibly replaced, and original central shade are in good condition with a few small and light surface scratches and minor calcification, concentrated primarily to the one of the smaller shade, consistent with age and use. The central shade with wonderful coloration and veining throughout that adds nice artistic depth to the overall work. The chandelier retains the original alabaster and bronze hanging hardware, including the bronze ceiling plate. This lot includes a later metal ceiling plate that was used by the current owner for mounting the work. A wonderful example of the form showing nice patination to the silvering and artistic selection in the alabaster elements.
