Condition
Overall in very good condition. This lot comprises two distinct windows each with period oak frame. The panels with approximately 22 cracks to the glass dispersed throughout the two windows. The windows each display a highly artistic glass selection with wonderful dimensionality. The blue roundels at the corners with nice depth and scattered glass throughout with a distinct chipped finish inherent in the making. The windows have the mirrored decorative scheme, and there is wonderful nuance in the glass selection that allows for subtle variation in the color across the two windows, as seen in the catalogue illustration. The glass throughout appears undisturbed and there is no evidence of prior restoration. Each of the windows with minor areas of warping commensurate with age. The metal leading and edges some uneveness and isolated areas of added depth, all of which appear inherent in the making. The leading show surface wear and minor areas of rubbing consistent with age. There is one area of wear and loss to the leading to the lower third of one window, measuring ½ inch in length. With surface dirt to the recessed elements throughout each of the windows. The windows would benefit from a sensitive cleaning. The wooden frames with a scratches, minor seam separations, edge nicks and some minor edge losses consistent with age. The interior of the frames adjacent to the glass, each with minor areas of the infill (1/2 inch in diameter) likely to cover hardware, which appear inherent. The windows when viewed in person present less red in color throughout and more yellow. A wonderful pair of widows displaying wonderful color and dimensionality in the glass selection.
