Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 40 cracks dispersed throughout, which is a relatively reasonable number in proportion to the vast number of glass tiles which were required to execute this complex shade. All of these hairline cracks appear stable. The shade leading is exquisitely rendered with fine artistic lines and displays a particularly rich russet brown patina. There is a small area on the shade which appears to be the site of a prior impact. This area was previously restored in a rather heavy-handed manner with four obvious pieces of replacement glass. This area has been recently conserved by a professional Tiffany restorer; the four pieces of replacement glass have been sensitively replaced with matching period Tiffany glass which is highly complementary to the shade; the adjacent cracks have also been stabilized with an archival glue. The patinated bronze surfaces of the base display an exceptionally deep and rich russet brown and green patina. The bronze surfaces with some light rubbing to the patina, and with some scattered traces of surface residue consistent with age and gentle use. The riser shows a small open aperture for the electrical cord, which now extends from the outer top contour of the cushion base, presumably a later modification. (Judging from the age of the plastic cord bushing on the base, which is a period component, this modification was likely done in the period but ex-factory.) All three sockets and paddle switches appear original and undisturbed. With a replaced drop finial. A superb example of the model displaying a fully saturated jewel-tone glass selection. The lamp presents beautifully in person with a dazzling color palette.
