Condition
Overall in very good condition. The enameled surface of both the body of the jar and cover display a highly saturated iridized surface that imparts to the work is brilliant hues ranging from brilliant purples and oranges to lustrous greens and yellows. The surface with minor irregularities and a few small and minute burst air bubbles, concentrated within the vertical decorative panels to the exterior, all inherent in the making. The copper hued shoulder with one small area of sensitive restoration (visible in the catalogue illustration) just above the central rectangular panel, measuring approximately one inch in diameter. The interior with a corresponding abrasion to the interior enamel and second abrasion lower down in the body. Immediately below the rim of the jar, there a few spots of minute and sensitive retouching from use. The same area with some minute spots of oxidation which is likely where the enamel covering was light. The knop of the lid with two very minute circular discolorations, each just visible in the catalogue illustration. The interior of the jar and cover are enameled throughout. The interior of the jar with minor surface residue. A remarkable example displaying an unusual abstract decorative scheme heightened by luminous coloration throughout.
