Description

- 196cm. wide,106cm, high. 42cm deep; 6ft. 5in., 3ft. 5¾in., 1ft. 4½in.
the pierced back with a central Roman portrait medallion in relief surmounted by stylised scallopshells flanked by scrolls, leaves and trelliswork enclosing flowerheads, the side supports with stylised sea serpents, the seat-rail with drapery, the scrolled supports carved with fishscale motif, with an inventory label M3198
Condition
In overall good conserved condition. There is a restored horizontal construction crack along the back which has been strengthened with iron. Old marks, chips and scratches commensurate with age and normal usage. The drapery on the seat-rail has been restored. The seat when viewed from underneath looks a later replacement. Evidence of old worm which appears to be no longer active.
