each of octagonal form, the sides painted with floral branches issuing from rocks, all below stylised ruyi lappets and floral sprays, the foot encircled by a band of scrolls and a floral scroll, the cover similarly decorated
Condition
Both vases and covers have general fritting and minor glaze firing imperfections, and minor chips to the rim (the largest measuring 2.3x1cm).
One vase has a 8x2cm section of the rim restored. The rim has short firing cracks, a 1.5x0.5cm chip and other smaller chips. There is a 1x2.5cm firing flaw to the shoulder. There is a number of glaze cracks, particularly to the lower body, with some possibly running into the body. There is a crack running across the base and 18cm up the foot. There are short firing cracks running along the looting line (longest measuring 3cm). The body has patches of iron-brown discolouration to the body. The foot with small chips and there is a 3cm firing crack running along the footring.
The other vase has a large area of grit and extensive firing cracks to the base.
One cover is broken and extensively restored.
