Description

  • SILVER AND WOOD
  • 43cm, 16 3/4 in high overall
spirally fluted, embossed and chased with flowers and rocailled ornament, later crested, ebony wood handle and bun feet, burner with an 1807 Dutch control mark for old work

Condition

Repairs around base of body where base plate and ring foot join, this looks like repairs to splits in the manufacturing process, the silver solder repair is visible on the inside of the kettle. Flowers were embossed originally where spout now is, this looks like lack of forward planning in the construction process. The hinges of the handle are fixed so handle remains upright, a few very minor possible old repairs to the openwork ornament of the stand, overall wear commensurate with age but basically in good overall condition, marks very clear, finely chased.
