Kändler, inebriated leaning against a tree stump holding two fish in his hands, another in the pocket of his rolled up trousers, and two stuffed into his shirt, standing upon a small mound base applied with flowers, indistinct crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, some restoration

Condition

There is restoration to the figures lower left arm, the tail of the fish in his right hand, his big toe on his left foot and to three applied leaves on the base.

Kändler's work records for December 1738 include: '1 Fischer mit aufgewickelten Bein Kleidern, die Fische so er gefangen, trägt er theils in seinem Busen, Schubsacken und Händen, auf dem Rücken hat er einen Kober, worinnen Krebsse, welches alles zu sehen, und neben sich hat er ein Fischreisser liegen'
