Designed as a Harlequin carrying a slapstick whilst climbing a ladder, decorated in polychrome enamel, maker's mark for Carlo Giuliano.

Condition
Maker's mark C.G. Fine enamel work in good condition. Some scratches to metal consistent with wear. Diamonds bright and lively. Pin fitting secure. In very good condition.

Catalogue Note
The Harlequin was a character from the Harlequinade which was a British comic theatrical genre adapted from the Italian Commedia dell'arte. The Harlequinade was a visual spectacle including stylised dance and music and remained popular until the end of the 19th century. The Harlequin typically wore diamond chequered trousers and a black mask whilst carrying a batte or slapstick.
