Catalogue Note
Ming dynasty belts were often fitted with twenty plaques, of which six would be peach-shaped like the present lot. A complete set of belt plaques with a similar design, from the Palace Museum, Beijing, is illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum - Jadeware (II), Hong Kong, 1995, no. 166.
