Description

  • canton enamel
brightly decorated on the interior with a blue shou medallion encircled by a peony scroll, with a further four smaller medallions on the well enclosed by a mixed floral scroll, repeated on the underside, the base white with seal mark in enamel (2)

Provenance

Acquired in China in the 1950s and thence by descent within the family. 

Condition

Both dishes have expected wear and pitting to the enamels. One dish has a shallow U-shaped crack to the underside of the rim and associated cracks radiating down from the interior rim. The other dish has a chip to the underside of the rim.
