Description

of flattened baluster form, each side well-carved with floral arabesques forming a taotie mask, surmounted by a band of stylized lotus, the neck flanked by a pair of lion-head loose ring handles and carved with a band of overlapping acanthus leaves, the base encircled with lappets, all supported on a high splayed foot, the fitted cover with similar archaistic motifs surmounted by a knop formed by a lion and cub, the stone mottled with white and a russet inclusion (2)

Condition

There are scattered minor nicks and small chips to the rims. There is a chip to the cub's tail on the cover.
