oil on canvas, oval-shaped, the first depicting Xiamen, a view from the Island of Gulangyu looking across the harbor to the Western residences and company buildings lining the waterfront, the harbor dotted with Chinese junks and a barge in the foreground flying a large red and blue banner, inscribed 'Amoy', framed; the second depicting Pagoda Island, Fuzhou, a view from the southern bank of the River Min looking northeast toward the island, atop the hill standing the famous landmark seven-tiered pagoda, with trading vessels, fast clippers, steamships and junks anchored and waiting for shipments of tea, surrounding the waterfront lined with western-style storehouses and residences, inscribed 'Fuchow', framed (2)
