the rectangular tile with the deity molded in high relief, seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base with beaded rims, wearing an aubergine asanghati and holding an alms bowl, the face with a serene expression, the tightly coiled hair with its raised ushnisha glazed blue 

Provenance

Mr. and Mrs. Amos H. Hoagland (1888-1918), acquired 1914, Beihai Park, Beijing and thence by descent.

Condition

There is considerable wear and glaze loss to the surface. The seated Buddha is missing one side of the usnisa and there are large chips to both top corners.
