each delicately potted with slightly flaring sides rising from a countersunk base, the interior painted in iron-red with a stylised shou character surrounded by five outstretched bats (wufu), the exterior bordered with a band of sixteen xi ('happiness') characters painted alternately in iron-red and pale turquoise, all between a band of alternating ruyi and pendent trefoil blossoms bordering the mouthrim, the base inscribed in iron-red with a six-character seal mark
Condition
One dish has a couple of small flakes of approx. 0.2 cm to the rim as well as some glaze crackles to both the interior and the base. Apart from some typical surface wear, iron spots and pinholes, the overall condition of the pair is fairly good.
