the deep rounded sides rising from a short foot to a flared mouthrim, the exterior delicately enamelled with a continuous scene depicting two immortals in a rural setting laden with large jagged rockwork, a two-storeyed pavilion and tumultuous waves, one immortal with a child standing timidly behind him, the other with a further child holding a peach behind him, the interior with a medallion enclosing Shoulao standing next to a deer whilst holding a long staff, the countersunk base inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character reign mark in three columns within a double circle

Condition

The bowl has two stabilised star cracks of approx. 1.3 cm (2 o'clock) and 2 cm (8 o'clock) to the sides. The mouthrim has a bodyline of approx. 3.5 cm. The central medallion also has a polished kiln grit. The enamels however have been generally well preserved with only some typical surface wear, especially to the interior.
