A PAIR OF LARGE BLUE AND WHITE BALUSTER VASES AND COVERS QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD

Description

  • porcelain
each with a spreading foot rising to a baluster body, painted with roundels of flowering plants, issuing out of jardinières of lotus, above a band of lotus lapets at the foot and a band of srolling lotus in reserve at the neck, the domed covers similarly painted below a knopped finial

Condition

One vase has a 16.5cm by 5.5cm semi-circular area to the rim repaired (broken in two pieces), there is also a 46cm long vertical crack that runs from the centre of the body through the underside of the base. The other vase has three vertical cracks running from the rim, 6cm, 5.5cm and 4.7cm long and some firing cracks the sides. There are some scratches, burst bubbles and iron spots to the glaze on both vases.
