each bird modelled in mirror image, with an alert expression looking towards the side, its eyes picked out in black and the plumage in yellow, turquoise, pink and green enamel and its breast in iron-red, standing on mottled green, puce and blue pierced rockwork bases

Condition

One bird has had both wings and its neck restored and the other bird has had its right wing restored and beak. There is some rubbing to the gilding of the beaks of each bird and some firing cracks to the tail of one. There is also some areas of enamel loss to the iron red section of the tail (1.3cm by 8mm) of one bird and some minor areas to the other.
