Description

  • stoneware and wood box
each with steep sides tapering towards the rim, set with a short spout, supported on three globular feet, one with an upright handle, the base inscribed and signed Dongxi, the other with a loop handle by one side, the base with the studio mark Kezhai, wood box

Condition

Besides a small amount of wear to the underside of the feet of both teapots, they are in good condition.

Kezhai was the hao of the well-known scholar and collector Wu Dacheng (1835-1902) and appears on a number of Yixing wares commissioned by him.
