each of circular form, the flat top variously decorated with figures in a landscape, one depicting two conversing scholars seated amongst a bamboo grove, the other with a scholar standing as his attendant knocks on a door, the sides encircled by broad keyfret bands, the interior and base lacquered black
Condition
There is damage and repairs to the interior rims and repainting of the base rims of the boxes and some over painting to upper and lower rims of the covers. There is also repair to the rock and part of the trunk of the tree to the right foreground of the cover with the two seated scholars. There are also some cracks and scratches to the lacquer in several places throughout.
