Description

  • hongmu wood
each with a curving crestrail in five sections terminating in everted handgrips, above a S-shaped backsplat carved in low-relief with a square cartouche enclosing ruyi-shaped, C- and S-shaped scrolls, with a soft cane seat and moulded seat frame, on circular section legs joined by a shaped and beaded apron, flanked by long beaded-edge flange brackets secured by stepped box stretchers

Condition

One chair with the cane seat broken. There are minor chips to the front hand rail and a crack to the right corner of the seat below. The bottom of the front left leg has a corner which was broken and restuck. There is general wear to the legs and minor shrinkage to the wood. The other chair has both arms broken and restuck with associated losses. There are minor losses and cracks along the back seat. The front hand rails have been reinforced. There is general wear to the legs.
