naturalistically carved with a bat perched on a hollowed lingzhi head borne on a gnarled stem issuing further attendant lingzhi heads, all beside a pair of lotus blooms and a leafy magnolia spray, the reverse of the stem incised with a four-character seal mark, the stone of a greyish celadon tone with russet veining
Provenance
A European Private Collection.
Condition
There is a 5mm., V-shaped chip to the ruyi head on the left side (as illustrated) with an associated fissure and loss to the ribbons and stems to the right side.
It should be noted that the stone is of a slightly darker celadon tone than the catalogue illustration would suggest.
