of rectangular section, the pear-shaped body rising from a tall splayed foot to a waisted neck flaring at the rim, flanked by a pair of stylised phoenix handles, the body decorated with a wide band of taotie masks reserved on a leiwen ground, all between a similarly decorated kui dragon band and pendent lappets enclosing dissolved taotie masks and kui dragon heads

This large and impressive bronze vase is in good condition with only very minor casting flaws around the edge of the foot. It has been professionally cleaned.
