Description
- stoneware, metal cover, wood box
the compressed globular body rising from three animal mask legs to a straight neck with everted rim, flanked by a pair of loop handles issuing from animal masks, covered overall in a pale greyish-celadon glaze, pierced gilt-metal cover and Japanese wood box
Condition
The censer has a gold-lacquer repair (2 x 1.5cm) to a rim chip, a gold-lacquer repair (14 x6mm) to the top of one handle, a bruise to the bottom of one leg, small glaze flakes around the bottom edge of each foot, and minor glaze scratches. It should be noted that the glaze is of a slightly warmer celadon tone than the catalogue illustration would suggest.
