of triangular form, finely embroidered in shades of blue and cream silk threads with a five-clawed dragon in pursuit of a flaming pearl amidst lingzhi-head cloud sprays and six bats, all framed by a composite lotus and peony scroll and flames, inscribed to the reverse of the top section ten-character inscription reading Xiao zhangcun Guandi Miao, Xianfeng yuan nian (Temple of Guandi, Xiao zhangcun, first year of Xianfeng)
Condition
The banner is in fair condition, there are tears and fraying threads across the surface, particularly to the barbed edge and along the edge where it is attached to a wood panel. General colour fading. Minor stains.
