Description
- polychrome wood
seated in rajalilasana, both hands held in vitarkamudra, the right arm rested on the raised right knee and the left arm on a rocky ledge, dressed in a long flowing robe falling into elegant folds, the chest and the legs adorned with beaded jewellery, the face with a benevolent expression, the head turned slightly towards the left, crowned with a tall headdress centered by a figure of Amitabha Buddha, all supported on a rocky plinth with lotus pods and flowers at the base
Condition
The fingers of the figure had been broken and repaired, including the thumb to the left hand and the index finger to the right. A section of the hair tassel has been broken and repaired.
There is an area of loss to the left shoulder, the waist and the left cheek of the figure.
The head has a crack running diagonally from the top of the headdress to the right eye. There are splits and cracks to the wood near the legs on either side of the figure, near the base and on the reverse.
There is extensive paint flake throughout the surface.
