of barrel form, boldly decorated in openwork around the body with a wide band of peacocks striding amidst a dense landscape of blossoming peonies and rockwork, interrupted by two moulded monster masks, framed above and below by circular raised bosses and incised detached cloud scrolls, the domed top with a pierced central peony and demi-lotus leaves to the rim, in dark blue, pale aubergine and biscuit against a turquoise ground

Condition

The seat is in good condition, but there is a 3.5cm firing crack running through the footrim. There is some wear and scratches to the upper surface and some kiln adhesion. There is some light crazing to the glaze throughout and the dark blue has misfired in places and crawled from some of the bosses.
