Description

  • porcelain
of elegant bottle-shape with tall narrow neck and supported on a short straight foot,
decorated around the body in white slip with birds and insects amidst flowering
branches and all reserved on a rich blue ground, the base with an apocryphal Qianlong seal mark in underglaze-blue

Condition

The rim extensively fritted, with some associated shallow chips. Numerous glaze lines across the body, some of which have become stained and appear brown, mostly concentrated around the neck and lower body. A 12mm and 11mm, together with further minor shallow chips, to the foot ring. Some glaze pulls to the base, with further firing imperfections and surface wear elsewhere.
