- bronze
seated in dhyanasana on a double lotus base, the right hand extended in bhumisparshamudra and the left in dhyanamudra, wearing a shawl draped over the left shoulder with the undergarment gathered below the bare chest, the serene face with downcast eyes and a meditative expression, flanked by a pair of long pendulous ears, the hair gathered in tight curls surmounted by a domed ushnisha, engraved to the reverse with a long inscription dating to the ninth year of Jiajing (corresponding to 1530)
Condition
Various small chips to the unsealed base, including one large loss the reverse, measuring approximately 23mm by 9mm, with a square casting flaw above measuring, measuring approximately 6mm by 6mm above. Further casting flaws or post-production damage to the figure's back with three misshaped apertures to the bronze, the largest measuring approximately 11mm by 5mm. Various dents and surface wear elsewhere, primarily to the lotus base, ushnisha and robes. The bronze patinated to a rich chocolate-brown tone.
