Description

  • gilt bronze
cast seated in lalitasana on a double lotus base, the right hand lowered in varadamudra and the left hand raised to the chest, holding leafy stems of uptala lotuses rising above the shoulders, dressed in a dhoti embellished with beaded jewellery, crowned with a tiara in front of the high chignon; together with a gilt-bronze figure of Tara riding a goose, 17th/18th century

Condition

The figure of seated Tara: sealed, with losses to semi-precious stones to jewellery and tiara. Dents to edges and wear and scratching to gilding. The figure of Tara on a goose: some of the semi-precious stones lost and others possibly replaced. General wear to gilding.
